It's time to say Goodbye

Ah, don't panic....I am not saying goodbye to you guys,
But we are finally admitting
that Allred is Not coming home.

Today, My Vickie and I took our last
jaunt into our little surroundings in an effort
to find him and again we return
without him.
We will miss this little guy
and even though he was a true character,
maybe even a little devilish,
and sometimes just plain painful
to those of us with four legs
Our hearts are hurting.
It seemed that even the sky was telling
us our search was to be fruitless
The only place left that we havn't searched
was a big grainery along the railroad tracks.
Sometime He would come here to
help keep the rat population under control
He was thougth-ful that way.
I believe I told you how My Vickie had
maybe committed a felony in our efforts to find
Allred.  WEll today we even got hold
of the guy who's empty rental she
had broken into, to apologize
and pay the damages.
Oh this girl has a conscience.  I honestly
don't think she would have ever
been caught.  But she was
just so sure she heard a kitty crying
from the empty house.
So back at home, I am peacefully sleeping
after our unsuccessful search when I am
awakened by some movement
at my side.

There was this little green tree with two
big red balls on it sitting right next to me.

My buddy Tank and Allred
had each others names for the Christmas
Gift Exchange and even though
Allred has been Missing for the
last two weeks, Tank still sent his
Christmas gift.

Wasn't that thoughtful.
I suspect that Allred and Tank
were well on their way to making
peace with one another
before Allred disappeared.
So on behalf of Allred and all of us
here, I want to thank you Tank
for this wonderful Christmas Tree.
And even though it is really hard for us,
we are going to choose to beleive
that When Santa flies over the
world this year, delivering his gifts
and spreading love to all
We choose to believe that he will
have a passenger sitting
next to him by the name of Allred

We wont stop listening for him to come home
each night serenading us with his
musical meows, we won't stop looking for
him wherever we go walking in our area,
nor will I stop carefully stepping
through the doggy door
checking to see if he is there
ready to swat me on the face.

We won't stop hoping he will come home
but we will start the process
of accepting that he has moved on
without us.

Plus, we won't stop hoping for our own
Christmas Miracle.

Love
Bert

Now my mom is crying because she tells me she really loved Allred. I'm sorry I never met him but still hold out hope that one day he will surprise everyone and show up on his kitty tower. May the force be with you, Allred. You are loved.

To love a wanderlust spirit is always heartbreaking, but I sense that his little paws were made for traversing this great big world, and he couldn't ignore the call of the road. I pray that he comes back...for good or for a visit, and I pray that no harm has come to him, but rather that he is on a great adventure, knowing he has a family in this world. I am so sorry. Hugs.

I have big doggy tears in my eyes. Yes he could be a pain sometimes. But you know what? He taught me that I can exists with a cat. His little gift to me. I will miss him. But I will still have hope in my heart for him to come home or that he has found a warm place to be. And that TANK is a real sweet heart.
Blessings,
Goose

Oh Bert and Miss Vickie...me and Domeek are sitting here and have tears in our eyes, we were hoping with all of our hearts that Allred would be found sitting in your kitchen or living room with a smug look on his face! If he has trotted over the Rainbow Bridge, we know for a fact that Santy Paws will make an exception and have a passenger that long evening! Tank, that was a beautiful holiday gift, I think that Allred would have had fun batting about the ornaments and perhaps chewing on the tree!! :-)

We still hope with all our beings that he is just up to no good, tormenting another dog somewhere else, and that he will eventually come home!!

But for right now, we will send all of our love and licks to the both of you!! <3

My heart aches for you and your Miss Vickie. My first ornament post in my countdown was Sylvester after a cat I owned. He too had wandered off and everyone thought the worst. I cried and cried and 2 1/2 months later I thought I heard meowing outside. Hubby said I was hearing things, but I ran outside and there was my baby all tattered. We had him for another 8 years! I do believe in miracles. :)

Miss Vickie and Bert... What a beautiful tribute to Mr. Allred. I believe in miracles. we lost my Irish setter in a blizzard when I was a kid and she was found a few weeks later heading home--over 60 miles.
Tank is one special dude...that's an awesome tree--it's perfect.
Bless ya, val and the girlz

We are still saying prayers he will come home. We've had cats disappear before that came home after we had given up hope, in one case it was over a year!

I am so very sorry. I will keep hoping for his safe return. I know how much you must miss him. Have you put up flyers and contacted the shelters and veterinarians in your town and the surrounding towns? (I'm guessing you have, but I would keep checking, you just never know....some people with lost pets are reunited months and even years later. You are in our thoughts.
